The Pan African Parliament,1.RECALLING rule 5(1)(a) of its Rules of Procedure;2.PLEASED with the mediation by President Thabo Mbeki of the Republic of South Africa and the African Union to resolve the politico-military conflict in Côte d’Ivoire;3.CONSIDERING the efforts by the various Heads of State to find a solution to the Ivorian conflict, as well as the success of the African Union in the resolution of conflicts in Africa;4. UNDERLINING the determination of the PAP to contribute to the resolution of current conflicts on the African continent;5.PLEASED with the manner in which the African Union manages the process of conflict resolution in Africa;6.EXPRESSING its satisfaction at the avant-garde role and the commitment of the African Union in establishing peace and security in Africa;7.URGENTLY CALLING upon the African Union to make every effort possible to resolve the conflict in Côte d’Ivoire, in particular, and in Africa in general;8.FURTHER URGENTLY CALLING upon all the parties involved in conflict in Côte d’Ivoire to cooperate with the African Union and the peace brokers;9.EXHORTING the warring parties to strictly observe the peace agreement;THEREFORE RESOLVES to dispatch a Pan-African Parliament Peace Mission at the beginning of May 2005 to Côte d’Ivoire to make an assessment on the ground and to submit a report to the Pan-African Parliament.
